OneDrive not syncing files

                                               



Before resetting OneDrive please check on these items first.

  • Check that you have internet connection, lack of internet will affect OneDrive sync
  • See if you can access OneDrive online, it could be OneDrive outage worldwide
  • Update to the latest Version of OneDrive
  • Unlink OneDrive and run OneDrive setup again
  • Make sure the filenames and file types are supported 
  • check if antivirus is blocking OneDrive

Fix : Reset OneDrive in Windows 10

  1. Close OneDrive Apps
  • At the bottom right hand side of your desktop, on the taskbar you should see the a blue cloud OneDrive icon, if you don't see the blue cloud OneDrive icon click on the up arrow on the task bar to show more icons.


  • right click on the blue OneDrive cloud icon and select close OneDrive
  • to make sure OneDrive is truly closed, got to the search bar at the bottom left of your desktop and type task manger. Open task manger on the process tab scroll down and look for Microsoft OneDrive, right click and select End task.
    2. Reset OneDrive using Command Prompt 
  • on the bottom left of your desktop, use the search bar to open command prompt by typing command prompt, on the black box and right click and select Run as administrator.
  • on the command prompt box copy paste this command :  
  •   %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
  •  and press enter.


  • you should see the OneDrive icon disappear, sometimes the icon does not come back on the taskbar until the computer is restarted, avoid restarting by going to the search bar and typing OneDrive and selecting on the OneDrive app.
